Sept. 25 - "Quilting Healthy" with Sarah Oliver
Dolores introduced speaker, Sarah Oliver, by showing some of her beautiful quilts, and Sarah explained how each came to be.  Her talk was on "Quilting Healthy," and was very interesting to all of us, since we all suffer at some time with muscle tension when we sew.  She had us laughing as we went through some exercises wit her and she explained how these simple movements can actually help our brains function better and lead us to be more creative.

Laughter increases our supply of oxygen and that, along with a good intake of water each day, helps us to remain healthy. Her presentation was very well-received by all in attendance!
(Sept. continued )   Carol Mengel brought in kits for us for our next quilt for St.Bernadette's.  We will be completing a nine patch and she asks us to return our squares at the October meeting.

We had many beautiful Show and Tell quilts and it was suggested by Dolores that we continue to bring in any book that our projects come from.

The October 16th meeting will include a tureen supper (also bring a place setting) at 5:30 for anyone wanting to share a meal before the meeting.  Also, we will have a contest for the best decorated pumpkin (ideas in Better Homes and Gardens magazine - Oct.)

Our fat quarter theme for October is Christmas fabric.

Regina won the Civil War fat quarter raffle and Dolores won the co-ordinated fabrics raffle.

Make a note on your calendars-- our next meeting is a week earlier next month...Oct. 16th.

August 28 - UFO NIGHT/Book share/Short business meeting
President Kim welcomed everyone and introduced our guests, including Abby Wright, winner of the guild's youth quilt award at the Crawford County Fair.  A number of winning quilts from the fair were shown by members who had entered them.  Nice work, ladies!  Other "sew and tell" items inspired us all to go home and sew!  A brief business meeting followed.

Everyone commented on the lovely picnic at the last meeting, at Kim's.  Thank you, Kim!

During a brief business meeting, the treasury balance was reported to be $1,673.24.  No August "special dinner" night was held due to lack of sign-ups.  Hostesses for the first months of 2008 are needed - see Bev. Rappa.

Members are reminded to sell more tickets for the St. Bernadette's quilt raffle.  Money and stubs are to be turned in to Joan O'Donnell by the October meeting, Oct. 16th.  Carol Mengel and Debbie Myers will meet to plan a quilt project for next year's raffle.

Kim discussed the proposed budget which was printed and distributed two months ago.  After discussion a motion was passed to approve the proposed budget, with the understanding that special expenditures or items which will exceed $50. will be brought to the group for approval.
Ways to reduce spending and/or bring in more funds were discussed, including getting fabrics donated for the raffle quilts, having everyone bring their own fabrics for the make-and-take projects, and having an auction or stash sale again some time in spring.

Next meeting's speaker will be Sarah Oliver, phys. ed. teacher from Millcreek, talking about staying healthy and fit while we sew.

This meeting members were asked to a favorite book and a project made from it, and some folks did, but everyone is asked to do this again next meeting as well.
The Fat Quarter raffle for next meeting is Civil War Reproduction fabrics.

Dolores J. and Laurie W. are working on a display of antique quilts, tops, blocks, patterns, etc. for the Chautauqua show, Sept. 21 to 23.  Anyone with items they might use, please get in touch with them.

Just a reminder that the October meeting is the third Tues., instead of the regular week - Oct. 16.  A pot luck supper will be held at 5:30.

Pat Pitetti, Queen of Yo Yos, presented an impressive display of projects made from yo yos - some lovely pieces!  She described many ways to use yo yos, such as crocheted together, putting something like beads or buttons in the centers, making tiny yo yos out of wee scraps of fabric, using them as trim on an edging, making cards and earrings.  She then demonstrated how to make them for anyone who wanted to try the technique.  Pat also provided a prize for anyone who knew some of the other names for yo yos, such as Bon Bons, Rosettes, Powder Puffs, Pucker Puffs, Yorkshire Daisies, Puff Balls, and others.

Our treasury currently has a balance of $1894. and the books were recently audited by Margie Hays and Jill Hubbard.  Kim explained a proposed 1-yr. budget and asked the members to think of ideas to
