Quilt Pittsburgh is a network of quilters in southwest Pennsylvania - click here for their website, and then click on "Quilting Events" for a list of shows and classes in the area!

Fabric Artist - Nancy Asmus will be exhibiting at Meadville Fine Art Prints throughout June, with a public opening Friday, June 6th, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

"Why fabric?" Nancy is often asked that very question. "I have sewn for over 30 years, so it seems only natural for me. I love the shades, the touch, even the smell of good quality fabric. When you rip good fabric it doesn't have a hollow sound, but a high pitched sound that almost sings.
"The treasure hunt always begins with finding the right fabric. While some would see green material, I might see a grassy knoll, colors of water's edge or moss growing on a building. My eye for color allows me to immediately know when that fabric is discovered. Where I discover that fabric might be at local quilt stores or as far as montana to maine. Friends of mine, who know me well, also have contributed to my very select stash.
"I become very connected to each piece of artwork I create. I am very well aware of the fact that I have no formal training, but that it is a God given gift. Therefore I strive to do my best work each day. I have this deep desire to make a personal connection between myself, the fabric and its owner.
"Whether it is a couple's first home, a college setting, church entrance or secret garden, I strive to grab those minute details that is worthy of the name "Material Monuments."
