Thank
you, Pat, for sharing your beautiful projects!
How
the Ladies of the Night program works:
From
Dolores Joshua, Program Director:
This idea came out of the large number of people who said "sew and
tell" was one of their favorite and most inspiring parts of
our guild. As a way to expand on this, and to foster sharing and
friendship, we came up with this idea.
The purpose is to get to know each other in more depth, to learn a
little more about our fellow members. No one is mandated to do
this, but hopefully it will be fun and bring us to a new level of camaraderie
and sharing. Hopefully eventually everyone will have a turn as the
featured quilter. We will preserve these shows photographically in
a Ladies of the Night album.
By seeing in-depth what an
individual's body of quilt work is (and other facets of the person, if
they are willing) our fellow guild members can get to know us better.
**People can share as much or as little as they desire.
Expectation: (What is this?)
- Be at the meeting when doors open and quickly set up a
mini quilt show
- Show us your work....If possible it would be fun to see
your first (or early work) and some of your recent work.
(As much or as little as you wish to bring.) If you are
able, have labels prepared for identifying anything significant.
(Ex. first quilt, favorite quilt, etc.)
- If you collect something sewing related (antique sewing
notions, buttons, toy sewing machines for example .. {not fabric, we all
collect that}... {and not UFO's - we all collect that too}) And even if
you collect something non-sewing related that we might find of interest,
show us!
- Maybe a picture or two of your family, your home, your
grandkids, your pets....whatever your passions are...
- If you have a favorite sewing tip or thought or technique
to share we will pass it out. (E-mail it to me ahead of time if
you want it printed, or print it yourself.) Include your favorite
quilting website or quilt shop...anything you want to share.
- You may write a little bio about yourself if you choose,
or I can help you. We will include that in our profile notebook..
nothing scary, maybe how you got started quilting, what you love about
it, quilt dreams. I will post some guidelines that will help with this)
- Want to share the spotlight with a quilting friend? Do a
buddies show, no problem. Maybe you and your quilting relative want to
share the experience, or you and your mentor, If you always sew with
certain friend or friends and
want to display together, that's good... whatever makes you comfortable
but allows us to know you a little better.
When does it happen?
The idea is to have this happening at the beginning of the evening, when
people are arriving. Maybe we could give the members a brief
chance to ask you any questions or for you to formally present your work
during the meeting (BRIEF being the operative term here).
Have an idea to add to this....go for it. These are not
BOUNDARIES, just jumping off points!
