Hello Quilters!

I hope you all enjoyed Thanksgiving and Black Friday. I’m sure the men in your life took care of all the cooking, cleaning and shopping so you could sit on your lounge chair and enjoy the festivities. Ha, right!

I am looking forward to Tuesday evening’s “Make & Take” night. We have three different crafts to make this year. Here’s what you should bring if you want to participate:
- Sewing machine with neutral thread and bobbin
- Scissors and Pinking Sheers (You can borrow mine if you don’t have any.)
- Extension cord
- Cutting mat and cutter
- Small iron and pressing pad
- Assorted Christmas fabrics
Sometimes a tableful of ladies share their stuff so not everyone has to bring an iron, cutting mat or even a sewing machine. You might want to confer with your friends before the meeting.

November’s Fat-Quarter Lottery will feature Oriental fabrics. Also, you can start bringing items for the Chinese Auction to be held at December’s meeting. They do not have to be quilt-related. However quilt items you have made are a wonderful idea!! This year’s proceeds will go to the Tammy & David Simonette Family, Pat Pitetti’s daughter and son-in-law who have many medical expenses from Dave’s cancer treatments. What a great way to help out our people in our community, eh?

Speaking of December’s meeting, how are you coming along with your Landscape quilt? I have mine up on my design board, but I better get busy finishing it. I’ve learned a lot about making Landscape quilts because of this year’s challenge. Now I just have to find the time to implement all those techniques! I better hurry though because December’s meeting is early in the month, December 11.

Dolores has been hard at work planning our Block of the Month series that is set to begin in January. We’ll learn different skill-building techniques every month, plus learn about the history of a quintessential quilt block. I can’t give you any more details right at the moment though, because it’s a secret. Dolores will give you the BOM scoop very soon, or if you’re really curious, you can check out our website for more details!

Is anyone interested in doing an ornament exchange? Dolores has found a bunch of patterns to make fabric or quilted ornaments. The links will be posted on the website for anyone interested.  **See below for some links to Christmas Ornament patterns! The swap will occur at December’s meeting, so give it some thought and we can discuss it Tuesday.

Has anyone ever taken an online quilting class? If so, how was it? Dolores would like you to tell her all about it, so you can talk to her at November’s meeting or email her at djosh@zoominternet.net .

Okay, I think that’s it for now. I hope to see you Tuesday night. Stay dry...
Kim
